Shows a very large Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, one of the largest renaissance era countries of Europe. Overall good condition with tape added to reinforce the center fold on verso. As seen in picture. Does not effect the front of the map. 1596, (RARE EDITION) ‘Europae Totius Orbis Terrarum Partis Praestantissimae by Matthias Quad. (Geographer, humanist and engraver). Published in Cologne by Lambert Andreas. Quad established Cologne, as a center for map making in Germany at the time. Copperplate engraved. Measures 14″ x 10 1/4″.
