The coin, weighing 4.5 grams and measuring 21 mm, features on the obverse the bust of the emperor in military attire, including a pearl-diademed helmet, and is inscribed with “DN IUSTINUS PP AVG” (Dominus Justinus Pater Patriae Augustus).
