🪙Spanish New World Empire, Mexico, under Carlos II from 1665 to 1700. It is minted in Mexico City, at the third location of the mint, which still exists within the grounds of the presidential palace. The assayer’s mark is not visible. This is a silver cob 8 reales, weighing approximately 25.4 grams, with an unusual shape measuring 40 x 26 mm. Both the obverse and reverse feature a crowned coat of arms and a Jerusalem cross with castles and lions in the quarters, representing the Spanish Empire’s heraldic symbols. The coin is in VF (Very Fine) condition, indicating it has retained a good amount of detail. Its authenticity is guaranteed, making it a valuable piece for collectors of coins from the Spanish New World Empire.
