This map of New York and Virginia Avenues is a highly rare item from Washington D.C., originating from an exhibit of a Supreme Court case between 1879 and 1899. It was featured in the MORRIS v. UNITED STATES case, which involved property rights disputes among numerous landowners, particularly concerning reclaimed land and dredging adjacent to the Potomac River. Encompassing 600 acres west of the Washington Monument, including significant landmarks such as the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, and Potomac Park, the map illustrates the contested territory. Despite its age, it remains in overall very good condition, with authenticity guaranteed. It measures 18 1/2 inches by 11 inches.
