This hand-drawn map, depicting a wharf, is an exceedingly rare artifact from Washington D.C., originating from an exhibit of a Supreme Court case dating between 1879-1899. It was featured in the MORRIS v. UNITED STATES case, which centered on property rights disputes concerning reclaimed land and dredging adjacent to the Potomac River. Covering 600 acres west of the Washington Monument, including landmarks like the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, and Potomac Park, the map illustrates the contested territory. Despite its age, it remains in overall very good condition, with authenticity guaranteed. It measures 7 1/4” x 8 1/2”.
